WoW Teen gamer falls in-love with 42 Year old WoW player

Love is in the air. Yes it’s almost February and even gamers can fall in love inside a game. Imagine the length of time you can spend with fellow gamers in Blizzards MMO cash cow, World of Warcraft. Apparently, a 16 year old WoW addict fell in love with a fellow 42 year old woman who is a WoW player also. They met in game and occasionally chatted with each other, and their chat sessions was so intense to the degree of “Sexually Explicit”.

Last year, on December 29, Andrew Kane asked his mother and father if they would drive him to a hotel to meet with Lauri Price and to spend the rest of his holidays with her. When the parents denied his request, Kane calmly returned to his room. Then, at 2 a.m. Kane’s parents heard the front door open. When they went to check on Andrew, he was gone.

According to the initial report from the Globe and Mail, Kane had left a note for his parents that read: “I don’t know how to explain it to you, but this will show you not only the commitment we have to each other, but also that your fears of her are ill found…Like I said, she offered to meet with you. I got in the way of that. What person who would do me harm would be willing to meet with you?” From Tomshardware.com

Price wasn’t so lucky, she was arrested for enticing a minor. WoW, it’s really addicting even in real life. WTF is this boy thinking, well at least he fell in love with a real person unlike the Japanese dude who married a video game character (you can read the article here)

Longest gaming playtime – 55 Hours straight

Imagine staying awake for more than a day, Hard isn’t it? Well imagine playing video games for more than a day straight, not that hard till you bleed your eyes out staring at the monitor. Well here is one amazing record set by David Scherer, a honor student and an assistant coach of the swimming team of  Austin Peay State University. He went on to set the record so he can raise funds to build an indoor swimming pool for the team that he’s coaching, the “Swimming Eagles”.

He managed to play 55 hours straight playing one of the best game that you can play almost endlessly, Grand Theft Auto IV.

The previous 28-hour Guinness World Record for the longest time spent playing Grand Theft Auto IV has been mercilessly shattered by a new, bold champion named David Scherer from Clarksville, Tennessee – who had the stamina to go 55 hours straight in Liberty City, only pausing thrice for quick toilet breaks. Where is NVIDIA you ask? Well here comes Fermi

For months now, NVIDIA has been silent with their GPU line. With ATI’s retake over the supremacy of the GPU market with it’s Evergreen series GPU(5xxx line) , for sure you’re wondering where the hell is NVIDIA. Don’t worry coz the Green Team is silently on works with it’s new GPU line to answers ATI 5xxx series, The GeForce 300 Series aka Fermi. Slated for a release last November 2009, it was pospone for a March release this 2010.

The Fermi chip is said to be a very large chip with 448 CUDA cores and 3 billion transistors. The silicon is to be manufactured by TSMC in a 40-nanometer process. This will also be Nvidia’s first chip to support DirectX 11. Consumer GeForce cards are expected to come with 1.5GB of memory while 3GB to 6GB are expected to be made available to the commercial Quadro and Tesla versions (That is, 256MB, 512MB or 1GB attached to each of the chip’s six independent GDDR5 memory controllers). The chip features ECC protection on the memory, and is believed to be 400% faster than previous Nvidia chips in double-precision floating point operations; with these features, combined with support for Visual Studio and C++, Nvidia hopes to appeal to the High-Performance Computer users who might presently be using Tesla systems. In my opinion, this is one thing to look forward to this 2010. Though the GeForce 200 Series line was somewhat successful, Fermi is very very promising. I’m really excited with this GPU line from NVIDIA, if their press presentation was true then were looking at next generation GPU computing. We’ll see later this year, its slated release date is March 2010 if it won’t get delayed again.
